Margarita Velin

Margarita Velín-Fárez is the leader of the NTA team in Ecuador. She is currently a full-time lecturer at the International University of Ecuador (UIDE). She is also an associate member of the University Institute of Economic Analysis (IAES) of the University of Alcalá in Spain and of WAPLAC (Network on Welfare and Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean). Her research interests focus on public economics, pension systems, labor market, inequality and consumption behavior. Additionally, Margarita Velín-Fárez holds a PhD in Economics and Business Management from the University of Alcalá. Her professional career is related to government institutions such as the National Institute of Statistics and Census; National Institute of Educational Evaluation; BanEcuador, Bank of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security, among others. She also has previously taught at UCE, UTPL.

Daniel Zurita-Loma is a data expert in the NTA team, as well as a researcher with a solid academic and professional background in economics, statistics and development. He led research projects, information management and statistical production in entities such as the National Institute of Statistics and Census; Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation; National Institute of Educational Evaluation; Central Bank of Ecuador (National Accounts), among others. He coordinated several research and methodology development projects with international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). He was a guest professor at the Bernardo O'Higgins University (Chile) where he taught Economics, Statistics I and II, Econometrics and Macroeconomics. Member of academic committees of several institutions of higher education and the State. Speaker at national and international conferences, and author of contributions in Spanish, English and French.

Liliana Roldán-Molina is a data expert with experience in NTA for 2011 estimations in Ecuador. Liliana Roldán-Molina is currently the Sub-Director of Operational Risk at the Superintendency of Banks. She is a professional in economics and applied statistics, especially on issues of poverty, inequality, and social programs; applied to public policies, national and territorial planning. She manages information generated in the country from surveys, censuses and administrative records, application of methodological proposals from models, indexes, and social, economic, demographic, and environmental indicators, using statistical tools. Liliana Roldán-Molina has contributed to the elaboration of three national development plans, as well as publications related to omission costs in sexual and reproductive health and national transfer accounts.

Francisco Carvajal-Ruiz is an expert in National Accounts and the Macroeconomic Synthesis Coordinator at Central Bank of Ecuador, where he works since 1981. In 1987, he embarked on a journey to initiate the quarterly accounts project, a venture made possible through the support of the French Cooperation, which provided expert missions and internships at the prestigious French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies. By 1992, Francisco Carvajal-Ruiz had assumed a pivotal role in overseeing the actual synthesis of Ecuador's economy. The results of the analysis were not only published in the esteemed Joint Economic Table but he was also entrusted to publish the country's National Accounts. Furthermore, he took on the challenging task of directing the elaboration of Base Year Changes for the National Accounts in 1993, 2007, and 2018. These endeavors encompassed the meticulous publication of integrated economic accounts and supply-use tables, complete with the necessary backpolations. These efforts have contributed significantly to enhancing the accuracy and relevance of economic data in Ecuador, supporting informed decision-making and economic development.
