Luis Rosero Bixby
- Luis Rosero-Bixby is an adviser demographer who is also member of the Ecuador team. Rosero-Bixby is an Ecuadorian / Costa Rican demographer, Foreign Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences since 2013. He has vast experience conducting population and health research and in-depth knowledge of Latin America and its data. He was the founding Director of the Central American Population Center at the University of Costa Rica; under his stewardship the center obtained international recognition as one of the leading population research centers in Latin America. Rosero-Bixby has published numerous internationally known articles on the determinants of the mortality breakthrough that took place in Costa Rica in the 1970s. Since 2004 he has focused on populating aging research, particularly health and mortality of elderly people in Costa Rica (and the country’s exceptionally good health levels) and Latin America, as well as inter-generational transfer in relation to population aging. After early-retirement as full professor at the University of Costa Rica in 2012, he continued 100% focused on aging research in Costa Rica and Latin America as research associate at UC Berkeley 2012-2015 and as Emeritus Professor at the University of Costa Rica since 2014.
Pamela Jiménez Fontana
- Pamela Jiménez Fontana holds a master's degree in demography from the University of California, Berkeley, a master's degree in health economics and social policy, and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Costa Rica. Since 2014 she has worked as coordinator of the economic chapter of the State of the Nation Report of Costa Rica. In addition, since 2010 she has worked as a researcher at the Central American Population Center of the University of Costa Rica.
